What do the winter Olympics have to do with bondage and you M? More than you would think actually. Most of you are aware of the Olympics and some of you may even be aware that they are being held in Vancouver, BC Canada. What you may not realize is Vancouver is my home city. Born and raised on the wet coast of Canada and you couldn’t get me out of Vancouver with a gun.
I have visited many great cities in the world, New York, London, Paris, Tokyo, Rome, Barcelona, Cairo, Istanbul, Athens and reveled in the rich culture and history each has to offer. There are good things and not so good things that one can associate with any Olympics, legacy vs debt probably the grand daddy of them all.
Summer games Montreal ’76 was widely regarded in my country to be a financial disaster. The winter games in Calgary, Alberta in ’88 actually made a little coin. Barcelona was transformed for her hosting of the ’92 summer games and I fell in love with that city. Summer games in Athens ’04 was a tad mismanaged in my humble opinion. Our guide pointing to sports specific stadiums that lay empty and falling into disrepair.
This journal is not about my opinion on the Olympic games. Love ‘em or hate ‘em they are happening right now in my city and there is not a blessed thing anybody can do about it. What pisses me off are some of the self serving, rhetoric shoveling ding dongs out there that are using the opportunity to advance a personal agenda. Reminds me of the controversy over global warming and the apparent skewing of data by some in the scientific community. Be truthful and factual and only then can we move forward.
